Darren paced his apartment anxiously. Felicity would be here any second, and he couldn’t understand why he was so nervous. Sure, getting your twin’s approval on a significant other was always nerve wracking, but this was Felicity he was talking about. She may throw her temper tantrums every so often, but deep down she would always be his twin, and she would support him.
Wouldn’t she?
Then again, dating a girl who controlled water, while having a sister who liked to play with fire might not have been the best plan on his part. Darren ran his hands over his face, unsure of how to breach the subject. Had she ever met Ellie before? Would she want to? Did it matter?
Of course not. He and Ellie would stay together no matter what Felicity had to say about them. Probably. Hopefully. He didn’t know. With a huff, Darren sat down on a kitchen chair and stared at the floor. His nerves were pointless, he tried to convince himself. Everything would be fine.
Everything would be fine.
Nervous.
That was the only emotion Felicity Woodridge could detect from her brother’s voice when he had called her at work, requesting her presence in his home. She almost wished that they had been blessed with twin telepathy, so she could understand the urgency of what Darren wanted to discuss. His tone didn’t indicate particularly bad news, but her curiosity plagued her during the entire walk to his apartment. She desperately hoped it wasn’t anymore news about their father- she was too tired to handle anymore bursts of flame-fueled anger.
Regardless, she didn’t know why Darren would be so nervous about talking to her. He had always been the only one who treated her without hesitation or fright. Felicity figured his news must be important- which only made her nervous and all the more curious.
Felicity arrived at his apartment building and climbed the stairs to his place- wanting to avoid any potentially upsetting news. Before knocking on his door, she cleared her throat, and proceeded to wait for Darren to answer.
Of course! Oh man, but we both know my high school years weren’t much better.
Oh hush. Your adolescence was a dream compared to mine. At least you didn’t get in the kind of trouble I did.
